Location for New Town Hall on Dills Bluff 

Town Council voted unanimously last night to acquire two properties on Dills Bluff Road for the location of the new Town Hall.   The properties are between First Baptist Church's property on the corner of Camp and Dills Bluff and Hillman Road.   The addresses for the long vacant properties are 1122 and 1126 Dills Bluff Road.   The TMS numbers are 4280300055 and 4280300054.   

Town Council also voted 4 to 1 against continuing to pursue a site on the JIPSD property on Dills Bluff Road.   Councilman Milliken voted in favor.

Sunday, January 31, 2016 – 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon

No Charge for the Class

Preregistration is not required but

Please arrive on Saturday, January 30th at 8:00 a.m.

A Technician License examination will be given on

Sunday, January 31, 2016 @ 1:00 p.m.

 

There is no charge for the license, but the team administering the test will charge $15.00

Nighttime Lane Closure & Detour for emergency gravity sewer main repair at the intersection of Ft. Johnson Rd. and Dills Bluff Rd.

James Island Public Service District announces nighttime lane closure & detour for Wednesday, January 13, 2016 beginning at 8:00 PM at the intersection of Ft. Johnson Road and Dills Bluff Road.  Crews will be working to remove all remaining Ductile Iron Pipe and connect to the system. All work is weather permitting.

Work will occur between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Flagmen will be on site to control traffic and direct detours.

Drivers will have access to businesses and residential properties along Ft Johnson Rd at all times.

Paving repairs will be scheduled at a later date.

Drivers traveling through the project’s construction zone are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working

in the area at all times.

Traffic Alert: Nighttime Lane Closures continue for the Harbor View Road Improvements project

Charleston County Government announces nighttime lane closures will continue on Monday, January 4. Crews will be working on Harbor View Road for the Harbor View Road Improvements project. All work is weather permitting.

January 4 – January 24:

• Nighttime lane closures will occur on Harbor View Road.

• The work will occur between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights.

• Flagmen will be on site to control traffic.

• At no time will the entire roadway be blocked to traffic.

• Drivers will have access to businesses and residential properties along Harbor View Road at all times.

• At least one lane will remain open to traffic under flagging operations.

• Drivers traveling through the project’s construction zone are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working in the area at all times.

The purpose of the Harbor View Road Improvements project is to improve traffic flow and safety on Harbor View Road and to provide adequate bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The scheduled completion of the project is expected in fall 2016.

The project will include the addition of a center two-way left turn lane between North Shore Drive and Affirmation Boulevard, the addition of right turn lanes at major intersections, the addition of traffic signals at Fort Sumter Drive and Mikell Drive, the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Harbor View Road and Fort Johnson Road and the addition of pedestrian and bicycle facilities.

Harbor View Road Improvements Project Update

To observe the holiday season all construction activities on Harbor View Road have ceased and will resume Sunday night January 3, 2016.  The project site will be monitored during this duration to ensure safe conditions to the motoring public.

The construction will cover 2.1 miles of Harbor View Road. The purpose of the project is to improve traffic flow and safety on Harbor View Road and to provide adequate bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The scheduled completion of the project is expected in Sept. 2016. The project is expected to take two years to complete.
