I have asked Town Council to approve a 20 mil property tax and a $2,948,052 tax credit. It passed first reading at the regular Town Council meeting on July 9 and second reading at a special meeting on July 23. A Town of James Island tax millage and tax credit will appear on the 2015 property tax bill, but you will pay no property tax to the Town.
Here is an example of a property tax bill for a homeowner with a house appraised at $200,000.
The Town of James Island tax credit of $160 appears near the top of the bill. The millage appears next Town of James Island Operatine and Reserve. Notice that the amount billed is 0, and the amount paid to the Town makes up 0% of your tax bill.
Regardless of the appraised value or type of property, the amount of tax paid to the Town will be zero.
