Town of James Island
Winter Weather Release 3
January 4, 2018

Town Offices remain closed today and tomorrow’s schedule will be determined later today. The Town remains at OPCON. There is a Winter Weather Advisory in our area until Friday at 11:00 AM.

Melting snow and ice covers most roads on James Island. Please be careful and stay off the roads if possible.

The strong sunshine and rising temperatures should help clear ice and snow from the roads this afternoon, however, a return to very cold temperatures tonight will refreeze any remaining wet areas. Driving conditions will likely become very hazardous Friday morning.

As of Thursday morning, the Stono River Bridge and the Wappoo Bridge were open, but the James Island Connector was closed. All the major bridges on James Island are under City of Charleston jurisdiction and they have a very helpful website for road and bridge closings.

The County Information line (843-746-3900) is open as of 8:30 this morning and should remain manned until 10:00 PM Thursday evening.

SCE&G reports no reported power outages on James Island this morning. Report outages to SCE&G customer service at 800-251-7234 or via online at https://www.sceg.com/outages-emergencies/power-outages Report downed or sparking lines to 866-879-6003.

Do not use camp stoves, propane stoves or other open flame devices indoors. Carbon monoxide given off by these devices can lead to incapacity and death. If you start to feel faint, dizzy, sick, or weak get to fresh air immediately.
