Repair Care Program

Repairing Homes Strengthens a Community:

Town of James Island and Sea Island Habitat for Humanity Partner Up

Town of James Island homeowners in need of maintenance help are invited to apply for assistance from the Town and Sea Island Habitat for Humanity (SIHH). Sea Island Habitat for Humanity will assess projects and perform the maintenance work. Critical Home Repair beneficiaries and their families are expected to participate to the extent possible when assessors or construction crews are on site. While similar arrangements exist in other regions, this collaboration is unique to greater Charleston.

Homeowners whose incomes fall under 80% of the area median income may apply. Applications for repair work are available online at http://www.jamesislandsc.us and at the Town Hall at 1122 Dills Bluff Road. There is no deadline to apply; requests will be received and projects undertaken on a rolling basis.

Applications will be reviewed to ensure residency requirements are met, and Habitat construction professionals will assess repair requests. Among projects organizers expect to see: ramps, roof repairs, window replacements and more.

The Application can be found here. Applications can be dropped off in person or emailed to info@jamesislandsc.us
