Stormwater drainage on James Island is managed by Charleston County. However, the Town hosts meetings at Town Hall of the James Island Stormwater Management Committee. Here all entities charged with Stormwater and drainage issues on James Island can meet and discuss cooperative efforts to alleviate concerns.
The Town has also prioritized drainage improvements and works to maintain ditches, pipes, and other structures critical to stormwater flow. James Island also enforces a set of supplemental stormwater design guidelines for development beyond what is required by Charleston County Building Services.
